Kanika, the restaurant that serves delectable Odia cuisine in our Hotel Mayfair Lagoon has drawn wide acclaims from guests who visit our hotel for the elaborate range of native foods it offers. It exclusively serves typical Odia cuisine known for their unique flavor and nutrition. Foods at Kanika mirror the food habits of traditional Odia household and the unique processes in which they are made.
Recently a team of Planet Social, a web portal that keeps a tab on the best restaurants in the country had visited Kanika and shared their experience with the visitors of their portal. They were absolutely in awe savoring the multi flavored Odia cuisine served to them. They interacted with the chefs to learn the processes and the ingredients used in the dishes. They also loved the ambience in which food was prepared and served.
The guests were treated with lip-smacking starters like Chhatu-Bara or Pan fried mushroom and onion patty. They opted for the Veg and Non Veg thalis as suggested by our chefs -which comprised of a wide assortment of delicacies popular in Odisha.
The thalis contained Dalma, badi chura, vegetable dishes, sweetened rice, plain rice, Indian bread. Kheer and two non-veg dishes. They were also served Chhecha chingudi (roasted river shrimps tempered with green chilli, garlic and mustard oil), which is a unique dish prepared in Kanika. Later they relished the spicy and tangy butter milk that complimented well the main course.
We at Kanika always experiment with newer variants of dishes inspired by the r rich cultural heritage and lifestyle of the people of Odisha. Satisfaction of our guests is our overriding priority.
